Quinteto Latino Setting the Stage for Growth

MENLO PARK, California - February 7, 2023. 

Quinteto Latino, a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit focused on breaking racial and social barriers in the classical music space, announced today it has named Reynaldo Ramirez its Interim Chief Operations Officer. In this role, Mr. Ramirez will provide interim management services and assist the organization in a search for a permanent administrative leader later this year. 

Mr. Ramirez is a 25-year veteran of nonprofit management and music education. He is co-owner and founder of Ramirez Artistic Services, an management organization focused in the music space, a noted leader within the El Sistema movement, and co-founder of Soundscapes, a youth orchestra program in Virginia offering  young students the skills to succeed in school. Previously, Mr. Ramirez held the Director of Education and Community Engagement positions for both the Virginia and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. 

“We are so excited to have Rey on board to help us build the much-needed infrastructure to hire our next Managing Director,” said Armando Castellano, founder and Artistic Director of Quinteto Latino. Quinteto Latino works at the local, state, and national levels to support entry by Latino classical musicians into the traditional White classical music space. 

About Quinteto Latino: Quinteto Latino – in Spanish, Latin Quintet – is a regionally and nationally recognized classical wind ensemble based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The  organization exists to disrupt long-standing racial and cultural disparities within the classical music field and drive this change by championing past, present, and future musical contributions by Latino composers and musicians. Since its founding, they have become a hub for Activism, Education, and Performance.

About Ramirez Artistic Services LLC: Ramirez Artistic Services is owned by Reynaldo and Cynthia Ramirez. They bring a combined 47 years of experience in administrative management, educational programming, arranging, performing, and touring management. Both are active musicians in Virginia. Co-owner Cynthia Ramirez joined the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band in 2005 and transitioned to the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast in 2017. In addition to performing as a clarinetist, she has managed tour operations and marketing for various performing ensembles.
