Quinteto Latino Performs

Why Quinteto Latino?

Quinteto Latino expands the boundaries of classical music by curating its programming to focus solely on masterpieces by contemporary Latino and Latin American composers.

The quintet has been performing together since 2004, with each of the quintet’s members trained in the nation’s top conservatories. Their unique dynamic is centered on providing a warm and inviting listening and learning experience to each audience.

The quintet regularly commissions and performs pieces by both emerging and established Latino composers, inspiring audiences across cultural, class, and ethnic lines.

Recently premiered commissions Gabriela Lena Frank’s Mitos: Suite Dramática para Quinteto de Vientos (y actores), funded by Creative Work Fund, and C U Z A – four nocturnes for wind quintet by Venezuelan Felipe Nieto-Sáchica (funded by American Composers Forum). Previously commissioned composers include Guillermo Galindo, Chris Pratorius Gómez, José-Luis Hurtado, and Paul Desenne.

Our Performance Programs

  • Educational

Quinteto Latino offers fun, interactive, age and culturally appropriate programs for school, family, and community-centered concerts. The quintet performs locally, in Silicon Valley, as well as in nationally recognized music festivals and arts venues, and festivals. Performances can be monolingual or bilingual (English/Spanish).

  • Formal

From overtly folkloric to high modernism, highlighting incredible works by emerging Latino composers remains our focus. We work closely with each composer and whenever possible, invite the composer to engage with the audience and discuss inspirations behind their composition at each world premiere.
