Fabio Valery Villanova, bassoon Fellow

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, he started his studies of the bassoon while being part of the music program “El Sistema.” In 2017, he was accepted into the Simon Bolivar Conservatory to pursue a preparatory program in the city of Caracas, Venezuela. In 2018, he moved to Miami, FL where he participated in the YOLA National Festival in Los Angeles, CA, and was principal bassoon in its orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.

Fabio studied for his bachelor’s degree at the New World School of the Arts/University of Florida under the tutelage of Dr. Carlos Felipe Vina where he has participated in masterclasses with different bassoon players, such as Whitney Crockett, William Short and Glenn Einschlag. In 2021, Fabio was one of the finalists for the Mary Hilem Taylor Music Scholarship Competition held at the Vera Rinker Hall in West Palm Beach, FL by the Palm Beach Symphony. Currently, he is studying for his masters degree at San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the teaching of Stephen Paulson, Principal Bassoon of the San Francisco Symphony.
